Our Chairs
Lauren Phelps
founder / co-chair
Following a fifteen-year career in fashion, Phelps launched a career as a fine artist, forming Lauren Phelps Studio. She first began creating art as a child with her late mother and credits the birth of her sons as the catalyst for creativity and career rebirth. Her postpartum struggles called her to serve other mothers in need, manifesting in Moms Heart Moms in support of Welcome Baby.
Sally King McBride
2024-2025 co-chair
Sally is a mother of two and the founder of The Letter Nest, a brand of distinctive and educational alphabet art based in New York City. She has been a supporter of Welcome Baby for the past three years, drawn to their mission of supporting postpartum mothers in need. She joins Lauren Phelps—her friend and fellow artist—in supporting Welcome Baby through Moms Heart Moms.
“A love for mothers born out of my postpartum experience. With a great support system, I was still struggling, and my mind kept returning to mothers of various circumstances and how they navigate the immense pressures of the early postpartum days. I also thought a lot about my young mother, who somehow, against all odds, managed to raise me well with so few resources and so little experience. I have a deep love for my fellow moms, and want to do something to give back for all they give their children and the world.”
